TRU Announcement

Supports for Those Affected by Flooding in BC

Dear Students,

Weyt-kp

We’re reaching out today to express our concern and support for those of you who are experiencing the impact of flooding in British Columbia’s Lower Mainland and Interior. We know that some of you may have been evacuated or are unable to travel to your current residence after mid-semester break.

While you focus on your well-being and that of family and others in the coming weeks, know that you can reach out to us if you need support to ensure that your academic affairs are in order.

Here are some supports that may assist you:

Online Counselling appointments for personal, academic and career discussions

Here2Talk online text and phone support

Student Affairs if you are facing academic probation

Student Awards and Financial Aid, which can offer emergency funding

Enrolment Services to discuss current and future course registration

Williams Lake Student Services for academic supports

Cplul’kw’ten (The Gathering Place) for Indigenous student supports

TRU World for international student supports

Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected by the devastating floods, and in particular the community of Merritt.

TRU has reached out to the Thompson Nicola Regional District and the Nicola Valley Institute of Technology to offer our support. We will continue to monitor the situation and will provide future updates if needed.

You are part of the TRU family. We know that your academic success is based on a foundation of overall wellness. We are here for you when you are ready to reach out.
