  Posted on: November 30, 2022

China has responded quickly to demonstrations that erupted across the country recently, suppressing protestors calling for political freedoms and an end to severe COVID-19 restrictions.

Dr. Robert Hanlon, associate professor of political science, is the director and principal investigator of the Canada and the Asia Pacific Policy Project at TRU. His primary research explores the links between corruption and human rights abuse in developing states. Dr. Hanlon’s interests include the political dynamics of corporate social responsibility and how multinational business actors behave in emerging economies. His regional area of focus is Asia with a specialization in Greater China and Mainland Southeast Asia. Dr. Hanlon is available for interviews on China/Hong Kong/Taiwan relations with Canada, human rights and human security in Asia and the politics of Asia.
