Kamloops philanthropist Ken Lepin presented $35,000 in awards to nine graduate students during an Oct. 11 ceremony. This is the second year the awards have been offered.
“In all walks of life, we need advanced graduates to help business, organizations, governments and industry make research informed, evidence-based decisions. Awards like these are cause for personal and collective celebration,” said Dr. Will Garrett-Petts, Associate Vice President of Research and Graduate Studies.
Recipients of the 2016 Ken Lepin Graduate Student Awards each receive $5,000. Recipients are:
- Kelsey Boule, Master of Science
- Lachlan Gonzales, Master of Education
- Jared Maida, Master of Science
- Gunveet Singh, Master of Business Administration
- Ziwei Wu, Master of Education and Teaching English as a Second Language
Recipients of the 2016 Ken Lepin Prize of Business Excellence, Entrepreneur and Communication (MBA) receive $2,500. Recipients are:
- Elicia Cheema
- Baryden Hearne
- Daniel Hoerz
- Ashlee Hudie
The awards provide financial assistance to students entering their first or second year of a full-time graduate studies program, either on-campus or online. The awards are bestowed on the basis of outstanding academic achievement in course work and research, as well as leadership activities.
