In the 2010 issue of Forbes Magazine, Dr. Vandana Shiva was identified as being one of seven of the world’s most powerful feminists working on social justice issues around the globe.

Here is a brief video to serve as a primer on her extensive work and impact as both scientist and activist.

Shiva holds a PhD in quantum theory from the University of Western Ontario.

She is the founder and main force behind the Research Foundation for Science, Technology and Ecology and Navdanya, a national movement to protect the diversity and integrity of living resources.

In 1993, she was awarded the highly prestigious Right Livelihood Award, seen by many as the alternative Noble Peace Prize.
