Choose your cause during TRU Day of Giving

February 21, 2024

First-year nursing students in Kamloops were gifted lab kits in September that were funded by Day of Giving in 2023.

KAMLOOPS — Thompson Rivers University (TRU) is counting down to the 2024 Day of Giving: 48 hours to raise $48,000 in support of students and education.

Starting Thursday, Feb. 29, donors are invited to choose their cause at tru.ca/givingday. Supporters can select a featured fund or contribute to any fund of their choice from across TRU’s faculties and schools. This year’s Giving Day will feature new giving challenges and on-campus student engagement activities to fuel excitement about giving back, including a booth at the March 1 Kamloops Blazers Game with an opportunity to unlock even more dollars for students.

“We encourage donations of any amount during Day of Giving. The collective support has a real, meaningful impact for students,” said TRU Associate Vice-President Advancement Kim Cassar Torreggiani. “Kamloops is such a giving community, and we are incredibly grateful for everyone’s support and generosity.”

In 2023, Day of Giving raised money for lab kits for nursing and respiratory therapy students, equipment they typically purchase themselves for lab work. The kits were distributed to students at the start of the 2023 fall term.

That initiative returns this year as a featured fund during Day of Giving. Other featured funds include general scholarships, bursaries and awards; TRU WolfPack scholarships; the Williams Lake Endowed Fund for Student Support; and areas of greatest need.

For more information on each of the featured funds and to follow along during Day of Giving, visit tru.ca/givingday. TRU Day of Giving runs from midnight on Feb. 29 to 11:59 p.m. on March 1.
