KAMLOOPS–It takes more than COVID-19 to cancel Thompson Rivers University’s annual Day of Giving that raises funds to support students to achieve their dreams.
This annual 36-hour event usually kicks off at the TRU Foundation Breakfast, but that traditional gathering has been sidelined due to the pandemic. However, as they say, the show must go on.
TRU’s Day of Giving begins at 8:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, and ends at 8:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6. We are asking alumni and donors who have given in the past to contribute again, and for new donors to give what they can. Anyone who gives can direct where their funds go.
The university’s goal is to raise $36,000 in those 36 hours. That’s $36,000 that will help students stay in school, complete their studies and go into the world to make a difference.
While some people have been hit hard by the pandemic, students have also been significantly impacted. These are students on their way to working in health care, in non-traditional jobs and in other careers that help us all.
“This is a chance to help students aspiring to become nurses and carpenters, artists and entrepreneurs. Anything that donors can give is deeply appreciated and reinforces to these students that they are worth investing in because they are our future,” said TRU Vice-President University Relations Brian Daly.
