The Law Courts Inn at the Supreme Court Building in downtown Vancouver was buzzing last Friday night as about 25 alumni gathered for the first-ever TRU Law Vancouver alumni event.
“Now that we have almost 250 law graduates from our first three graduating classes, it was definitely time to organize an alumni event,” said Brad Morse, dean of law.
“This provided an ideal opportunity to update our alumni on recent developments in staff and curriculum, the new Community Legal Clinic in Kamloops, as well as to connect them to to a number of our current second-year students who were also in the city that day for interviews with Vancouver firms for next summer,” he added.
James Gill, TRU Law class of 2014, is an associate at Pacific Law in Vancouver, and says he was happy to have the opportunity to catch up with some former classmates and familiar faces from the law school.
“It was great to see how far along all of the TRU Law alumni have come in just a few short years,” said Gill, who practices in the area of insurance, personal injury law and defamation law.
“I’m proud to call myself an alumni from a school that continues to grow and is led by some of the most caring and influential professors I’ve ever met.”
A handful of TRU Law staff and administration travelled to Vancouver for the inaugural event.
“It was really fantastic to see our grads and to hear all about their successes and catch up with everyone,” said Christi McAuley, director of career services.
A similar event was also held in Calgary.
