Here in Marketing and Communications we like to think of ourselves as more than just content specialists, but specialists in all things creative, which includes creating the perfect Thanksgiving dinner.
With the big day just around the corner, we have compiled the MarCom staff’s top tips for enjoying the perfect Thanksgiving dinner.
“Get yourself an organic turkey, brine it overnight, de-bone it and bake for two to three hours until you have the perfect juicy bird. You will also need cranberry sauce made from fresh Fraser Valley cranberries and fresh pie pumpkins.” —Diana Skoglund
“Marry a man who can cook.” —Anita Rathje
“Don’t leave a fresh turkey on the deck, it’s bad news and it will attract bears.” —Christine Anderson
“Seek an alternative to turkey, perhaps tofurkey,” —Mark Rogers and Oliver Harrison
“Gravy, gravy, gravy—just cover everything in gravy.” —Matthew Tarzwell
“Go to your mom’s house.” —Corey Wiwchar
“Reynold’s bags are a must. Throw your turkey in a bag, it cooks in the juices and then you can use the juices for gravy.” —Michele Myers
“Make the least desirable part of the meal, the brussel sprouts, the most desirable by adding a maple dijon glaze. Also, don’t waste your time with homemade stuffing, Stove Top is a tried and true crowd favourite.” — Caitlin Johnson
“Slow down and enjoy the meal by using a tiny fork.” —Mike Coulter
“Hit a big workout prior to dinner and bring your appetite.” —Bart Cummins
“Make sure to have enough leftovers for a weeks worth of turkey sandwiches.” —Robin Phelan
“Roast a chicken, not a turkey, and stuff it with veggies and stuffing—delicious.” —Cristian Sonea
“Never assume your guests will bring alcohol or dessert, be prepared.” —Jen Read
“Who needs turkey? Skip dinner and eat the entire pumpkin pie by yourself.” —Kelley O’Grady
As it turns out, aside from resident culinary enthusiast Diana Skoglund, the staff at MarCom are not in fact Thanksgiving experts so we will stick to marketing from here on out.
