Interim director of CELT announced

June 14, 2016

Dear TRU Community,

I am writing to update you with regards to the interim leadership arrangements within the formerly named Centre for Student Engagement and Learning Innovation, now named (pro tem) the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT).

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Sandra Vermeulen has been seconded from her position of associate dean of the Faculty of Arts on a half-time basis from July 1 to Dec. 31, 2016 to lead the centre. Sandra has a keen interest and significant expertise gained in her teaching experience and her roles as interim dean of arts, associate dean of arts and interim associate vice-president academic, in the area of promoting the excellence of learning and teaching.

In her seconded role Sandra will take the lead in undertaking the visioning exercise for the future direction for CELT, focusing on engaging faculty through course evaluations and learning outcomes. Sandra will also chair the teaching and learning committee and the learning outcomes steering committee, and will be a key proponent in the accreditation steering committee in support of our application with the NWCCU.

I am certain that Sandra’s strong academic and administrative record as well as her passion for the support of the pursuit of excellence in learning and teaching will provide the necessary leadership for the centre moving forward in the future and she has my full support in this endeavour.

It is my hope that she will have your support in her mandate in moving this initiative forward.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Kind regards,
Christine
