Stress

November 29, 2012

Stress, as we know it, is a fact of life. We experience it in our day to day lives for a number of reasons and sometimes it can be overwhelming.

Whether your stress is due to a major life-altering event or a smaller daily incident, it can cause negative effects on your mental, physical and spiritual wellness if not addressed properly. Symptoms of stress can include negative thinking, loss of sleep, trouble concentrating and increased feelings of anxiety.

It is crucial for your overall wellbeing to understand stress and recognize the warning signs you may experience. There are a few approaches to minimize the symptoms of stress. Here are some examples:

  • Talk to someone you trust to tell them how you feel and seek advice
  • Work out or go for a run to relieve built-up pressure
  • Set personal goals for yourself
  • Try yoga or meditation to calm your body, mind & spirit
  • Find one positive thing in your life and focus on it
  • Eat healthy and drink lots of water
  • Say “No” and only do what is necessary, no more!

Everyone experiences stress at some point so it’s important to understand you aren’t the only one who feels challenged by this obstacle. Be active in your wellness!
