On Dec. 6, 1989, a gunman entered the engineering school of École Polytechnique in Montreal and killed 14 young women.
It was a single-minded attack on women and it horrified and shocked Canadians across the nation.
Since then, Dec. 6 has become a National Day of Remembrance and Action on Violence Against Women.
A vigil is being held out front of Old Main, near the basketball courts, to remember these young women and to reflect on what we can do to stop gender-based violence. Flags on campus will be lowered to half-mast.
Please come out and show your support.
There will be warm beverages available.
