Graduates from one of the Coast Mountain College (CMTN) two-year criminology programs can now take advantage of a block transfer into the third year of a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology at Thompson Rivers University (TRU). The agreement reflects both institutions’ commitment to supporting student access, mobility and success in post-secondary education.
“This agreement is all about learners in northern British Columbia realizing their ambitions and building rewarding careers in the justice and public safety sectors,” said Dr. Airini, president and vice-chancellor of TRU.

Through this partnership with Coast Mountain College, together we have created a seamless pathway that builds on students’ strengths and aspirations, expands access to degree education, and develops the skilled professionals needed in northern communities.”

Under the new agreement, CMTN Criminology Diploma graduates can transfer the full 60 credits to TRU, where they would complete the remaining 60 credits required for a Bachelor of Arts in Criminology. These additional credits can be completed either at a TRU campus or through TRU online, providing flexibility for northern learners to start at CMTN and complete the Bachelor of Arts in Criminology without having to move away for their studies.
For students who complete CMTN’s associate degree with a criminology specialization, 66 credits are transferable, and the remaining 54 credits for the bachelor’s degree can be completed with TRU.
