Please join the MA in Human Rights and Social Justice Indigenous Ways of Knowing Class as we host Kenthen Thomas.
This Stptekll (Secwépemc Storytelling) event is free and all are welcome.
Kenthen Thomas captivates audiences with his fascinating retellings of Stptekll legends of the Secwépemc, his family’s lands since time immemorial. This is where his late grandmother, respected Secwépemc elder, the late Dr. Mary Thomas, taught him the traditional art of storytelling. Storytelling for the Secwépemc people brings entertainment during long winter nights —or cold autumn days. It is also a way to keep epistemology, law, and history alive, tell important lessons, and share amusing anecdotes about the creatures of Secwépemc’ulucw: this Secwépemc land.
