October 4 marked the National Day of Action for Missing, Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (MMIWG) in Canada.
Please join the Office of Indigenous Education on Thursday, Oct. 13, 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Library Commons, Brown Family House of Learning, for an event dedicated to bringing awareness and support for MMIWG.
Community and student speakers will share some words, you’ll find books and resources on display, and coffee, tea, and bannock will be provided. Everyone welcome!
We would like to thank our community partners, students, and TRU Library for helping us to organize this important event.
You may also have noticed all of the red dresses hanging in the trees, or heard people ask, “Why are there red dresses all over the TRU campus?” For MMIWG Awareness Week, Oct. 3 to 7, an installation of red dresses and pictures is featured in the TRU Art Gallery in Old Main and extending outdoors across campus. For more, visit Honour Stolen Sisters (Amnesty International).
