Teaching is a great career choice for a few reasons.

The overall enrolment of K-12 students, which was in decline from 1997 to fall 2015, is on the rise, and the BC Ministry of Education now anticipates slow stable growth until at least 2024.

And according to a $50-million agreement between the BC Teachers’ Federation (BCTF), the BC Public School Employers’ Association (BCPSEA) and the provincial government, about 1,100 full-time equivalent teaching positions will be created in BC.

Those factors make TRU’s Bachelor of Education (BEd) program a career choice you can count on.

“There hasn’t been such a great time to be a teacher in decades,” said education faculty member John Churchley. “There is more funding for teaching positions, student enrolment has stabilized and there is an exciting re-designed curriculum.”
