The Writing Centre is open for face-to-face appointments until Thursday, Aug. 9, inclusive, Monday to Thursday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in Old Main 2674. Evening appointments in the House of Learning are also available.
During the summer semester, the Writing Centre offers face-to-face appointments for undergraduate students, online support for graduate students and WriteAway appointments for Open Learning students. Thanks to increased summer enrolment in courses—particularly ENGL 1100 and ESAL level 5—it also offers:
- More appointments (up 33% from summer 2017)
- Updated handouts and PowerPoints on academic tone and style, essay structure and templates, thesis statements, integrating source material, citation, grammar, editing and more
- Three 20-minute introductory workshops on subjects fundamental to academic writing: academic integrity, APA (American Psychological Association) style and essay structure
Drop-in assistance for students who speak English as a second or additional language is available through the TRU ESL Language Learning Centre in Old Main 2517, Monday to Friday (see its About Us page for hours). Discover general resources and get support with grammar, vocabulary and more. International student status or ESAL enrolment is not required to access the ESL Language Learning Centre’s services and appointments are not needed.
