Thanks to a new food primary liquor license, the campus hot spot formerly known as Heroes Pub is now The Den—a restaurant open to customers of all ages.

“The motivation for change was to make it more of a social spot for everyone,” said Glenn Read, director of ancillary services. “Because most students living in residence are under 18, it gives them a place to hang out.”

The Den comes equipped with a new look and feel, including upgrades to the TVs, some of the furniture, lighting, artwork and even a new menu with new specials.

The Den will also be serving two of Red Collar Brewing Co.’s signature local brews.

“We’re trying to build a culture on campus as a social gathering place but it’s not something that happens overnight. The Den is not just for students; it’s for everyone,” said Read.

The name came about to reflect the underground feel of the space and to highlight a connection to the WolfPack and the brand.

The management team will be looking to run more resident-life events throughout the year and currently has weekly prizes and promotions to attract customers.
