Meet Keziah Kliewer. The graduate of North Surrey Secondary is one of five recipients of the 2015 TRU Ambassador’s Entrance Scholarship and begins her studies in Respiratory Therapy this September.

“One thing the scholarship smooths out for me is the ability to work towards a Global Competency Certificate alongside my degree,” said Kliewer. “My past experiences have me partway there, and now I will have the funds and time to earn the rest.”

Valued at $22,000, the award recognizes documented exemplary leadership and community service, combined with strong academic performance.

Academic accomplishments: making the Principal’s Honour Roll throughout high school for achieving a 4.0 grade-point-average, receiving an Outstanding Science Achievement Award throughout high school and being a top Intensive French student in grades 8-11.

“Commitment comes from passion, and I love to learn.”

Service to her school: being a peer tutor for Intensive French and pre-calculus, co-leading and event coordinating for a student-led Christian Club, performing and competing as a member of the Contemporary Dance Team and being an international student ambassador.

Service to her community: volunteering as a swimming instructor at four pools, traveling on Christian-based missionary trips, being a leader of grade 7 students, being an active member in her church’s Youth Leadership Team and involvement with the church’s community fundraising initiatives.

“Most of my accomplishments come from areas I am truly committed to,” said Kliewer. “Commitment comes from passion, and I love to learn. It was not much of a chore, then, to put forth my best in all I have done and have yet to do.”
