Thompson Rivers University

Healthy Living Week, February 6-10

January 30, 2017

Before you get sucked into the all-consuming storm of lectures, labs, papers, midterms and the ever dreaded group projects, be sure you’re feeling your finest! Commit to making your health a top priority this semester; it is as important as getting straight A’s. If you are overtired, dehydrated and under-nourished, your mind and body are not fully functioning. Think of your personal wellbeing as a spine, if one vertebra becomes misaligned—everything will start to dislocate and eventually subluxate.

As part of your self-care plan, check in with the Wellness Centre for events and challenges that will assist you in your maintenance of healthy living habits.  Sleep, nutrition, hydration, and exercise will help maintain mental and physical health during stressful times. If you’ve been remiss with your health, set small goals such as drinking one extra glass of water, walking an extra 15 minutes or getting one extra hour of sleep. It is never too late to get back on track!

Self-care is the backbone to maintaining wellness; learn about the campus resources that can keep your health in alignment.
