Thompson Rivers University now offers students, faculty and staff private spaces on campus to reflect, pray, and meditate.

The spaces located in Old Main rooms OM 2494 and 2496 will be celebrated with an opening ceremony March 26 at 10 a.m.

Referred to as Multi-Faith Space, the rooms offer flexible scheduling, allowing groups wishing to engage in shared spiritual practice to book times each semester.

TRU’s Students’ Union spearheaded the project in response to a variety of student requests.

“The creation of a new multi-faith prayer space on campus is the perfect example of how we can problem-solve together as a campus community, to make small changes to the campus that have a large impact,” said TRUSU President Dylan Robinson.

The rooms also offer space for the storing of supplies and materials.

TRU’s Dean of Students Christine Adam is equally pleased with how the university and students worked together to arrive at an answer that works for everyone.

“I’ve been so pleased to work together with students on this project,” said Adam. “The creation of this space is an example of what happens when students and administration work together on finding a solution to an identified need on our campus.”

The calendar of available times will be posted each month outside OM 2494. Booked times can also be viewed online.
