Thompson Rivers University (TRU) welcomes prospective students, families and community members to explore the Kamloops campus at Open House on Saturday, Oct. 3.
The annual event offers a chance to discover TRU programs and student services, meet faculty, staff and current students, tour campus and residences, take part in hands-on activities and enjoy a day of family-friendly fun.
“Open House is a chance to really experience TRU — explore our programs and spaces, meet the people who make up our campus community, and get a feel for what it could be like to study here,” said Reta Langlands Sulphur, manager of strategic enrolment initiatives at TRU.
“Whether you’re a future student, coming with family or simply curious about TRU, we’re excited to welcome you to campus and have you experience it for yourself.”
Open House runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., with check-in beginning at 9:30 a.m. The resource fair in the Campus Activity Centre brings together TRU faculties, programs, departments and student services, while interactive experiences across campus give visitors a closer look at programs, buildings and learning spaces.
Visitors can explore campus on a guided tour led by a current TRU student and tour North Tower, East Village and Coyote Den residences. The family-friendly Fun Zone features activities for all ages, including cotton candy and Uncle Chris the Clown.
From 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., visitors can enjoy a complimentary gourmet hot dog prepared by TRU Culinary Arts faculty and students. Free parking is available on campus throughout the event.
Future students can also apply to TRU at the Open House Application Station. The application fee is waived and applicants can enter for a chance to win a semester of free tuition. The tuition grand prize and Open House passport prizes will be drawn at 2 p.m.
Continue the excitement at Hillside Stadium, where Open House guests receive free admission to the TRU WolfPack men’s soccer game at 5:30 p.m.
