In June of 2018, TRU acquired the property and buildings known as Upper College Heights (UCH). Since that time, TRU invested $5 million in renovations, including updating 64 suites (approximately 250 beds), installing wifi and new smoke detectors, as well as implementing a number of infrastructural improvements in all buildings.

Three years ago, TRU reacquired the McGill Housing property and completed substantial renovations to update and improve the buildings and the student rooms. With these two properties, along with the TRU Residence, TRU is able to provide a variety of on-campus housing options for students.

“TRU Housing is pleased to offer a number of housing options for students to choose from. From dorms to apartment-style living, we are committed to ensuring students have access to quality affordable housing while pursuing their educational goals at TRU,” said Glenn Read, Executive Director, Athletics, Recreation and Ancillary Services.

With renovations to UCH complete, it was time for a name change for all TRU Housing properties. Effective Sept. 16, the TRU Residence and Conference Centre (Rez) is now TRU Housing: North Tower. McGill Housing is now TRU Housing: McGill Residence. And UCH is now TRU Housing: East Village.

The new names will appear on directional signage across campus over the coming weeks.
