This Saturday, Mar. 7, the City of Kamloops will be undergoing work that impacts TRU’s telephone services. The city is moving fibre cable on West Victoria Street from overhead poles to underground, for which the city’s contractor will be cutting the fibre connections.

Starting at 12:01 a.m. Saturday, all TRU desk and emergency phones on the Kamloops campus, as well as OLFM phones, will not be able to make outgoing calls or receive incoming calls. This includes outgoing calls to 911. Local to local calling will still function, and Williams Lake is not affected.

Connections are expected to be re-established by 3 p.m. Saturday, but may re-establish as early as 4 a.m. A web banner on TRU’s website starting Friday evening will alert users to the outage, and will come down as soon as service is re-established.

In case of emergency

If you have an emergency on Saturday, use a mobile phone to call 911 if you can.

If mobile is not available, use a desk or emergency phone to call Campus Security at local 5033. Security will respond and call 911 on your behalf.
