TRU maps options to credit students’ prior learning

February 15, 2019

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KAMLOOPS—Thompson Rivers University has received an investment that allows it to map out more options to give credit to students with prior learning.

BC Prior Learning Action Network (BC PLAN) has granted TRU funds to hire a student to research ways of helping students with varying post-secondary learning to have their skills and education evaluated and recognized.

TRU PLAR director Susan Forseille said the work will explore the range of PLAR options, processes, and credit allowances for PSE students in BC and that this is an imperative step in promoting PLAR options to hundreds of potential students across the province.

The student is will map the full range of Prior Learning and Assessment and Recognition (PLAR) option pathways, processes, costs, residency requirements and related admission policies and practices.
