We studied feedback on TRU Food Services provided last year, listened to your concerns and added many fresh food options to explore this semester. All nine locations have new menu options guaranteed to satisfy any appetite. For a full listing of newly added menu items, visit Food For U and click on the locations. Below are more changes you’ll notice this fall.

Trades Café renovations

You won’t be able to visit the Trades Café this September as it will be closed for renovations. Don’t worry, it will be back up and running in late October, rebuilt and retooled. These changes bring new food options like customizable personal pizzas, sandwiches and paninis, as well as daily hot breakfast and lunch options. With a new look comes a new name: The Workbench. Stay tuned for more information!

No more plastic straws

Last January we removed plastic straws from The Den and this semester we have expanded this policy to all TRU Food Services locations. We encourage you to bring your reusable straw, try a beverage without one, or if needed, ask for a biodegradable paper straw.

Students and staff can pick up passports at eight food service locations on campus.

Extra large coffee changes

Great coffee is essential and we are excited to announce TRU now has its own custom coffee blend. HOWL coffee is 100% fair trade, organic certified and sourced ethically in partnership with Fairtrade Canada. Try a cup at Bean Me Up, The Workbench, The Upper Level Café and Urban Market. The International Café also got a coffee makeover and will be serving your favourite specialty coffees using beans from Twisted Goat Roasters. Their beans are fair trade, sourced from sustainable farms and roasted in small batches right here in Kamloops.

TRU Fill it Forward coffee rewards program

Collect rewards for purchasing that much-needed cup of coffee! Download the Fill it Forward app, purchase a coffee at any of the participating locations (Bean Me Up, The Workbench, The Upper Level Café, Urban Market, and the International Café), use your reusable mug and scan the dark blue Fill it Forward tag. This rewards you with points on the app and after 10 purchases, you get a free coffee. Check out TRU Sustainability for more information.

We look forward to another exciting year serving up great eats on campus. Make sure to grab a TRU Taste Traveler Passport to explore and participate in a culinary journey around campus and for the chance to win some great prizes.

TRU Food Services welcomes your feedback and looks forward to working with you and all members of the TRU community to improve your on-campus dining experience. Please send comments to Food for U at foodservicesfeedback@tru.ca.
