Connecting with Alumni in Western Canada

March 29, 2018

Alumni relations manager Arlene Olynyk meeting with alumni in Vancouver

From March 1-8th the TRU Alumni team visited 6 cities, met with 10 groups and over 75 alumni to assess the needs of alumni living outside of the Kamloops area.

Three common themes were found throughout each group:

Community:

There is a strong desire for the creation of an online alumni community. Alumni are interested in hearing about what fellow alum are doing in their communities & emphasizing the value in their accomplishments.

Professional Development & Lifelong Learning:

Alumni have indicated that they are looking for Professional Development opportunities. Alumni are interested in learning about the career paths of other graduates in their field, options for non-typical career paths and attending workshops to cultivate their skills or build up their resumes.

Pride Development:

TRU Alumni are looking for a stronger sense of pride in being a TRU Alumni. Alumni want to hear about what each other are doing in their communities. Furthermore, they want Alumni mentorship & speakers that are experts in their fields.

They’re not done yet!

The team will be in Williams Lake April 11th and in Prince George on April 12th. If you would like more information regarding these visits, send us your RSVP here.

Did the team miss you? They would still love to hear from you. Email your thoughts on alumni programming in your area to alumni@tru.ca.
