Prof. Airini, Dean of the Faculty of Education and Social Work, continues to expand her extensive work in the area of Indigenous education. In late September, Airini travelled to the Nisga’a Nation, north of Terrace, BC, where she was invited to speak on Indigenous education at the 2017 Nisga’a Education Conference. Just a few days later, she travelled to Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff, AZ, to meet with partners for international collaboration on Indigenous research. Here at home, Airini continues to lead Coyote Brings Food, a pan-institutional project seeking to Indigenize education at TRU as part of our University’s response to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action, and the Knowledge Makers program, which encourages Indigenous students to become involved in research.
