My name is Yassiir Chady, Technical Support Intern at Visual Statement Inc., working on my second eight-month work-term.

Visual Statement is one of the leading software developers of diagramming and reporting software for law enforcement and forensic investigators. Our diagramming flagship product (FX) is widely used by officers and private individuals for crash/crime scene analysis. Our field reporting software (ReportBeam) is used by hundreds of law enforcement agencies including six state-wide deployments (U.S.).

As a member of the Technical Support team, my responsibilities are to execute maintenance requests on our criminal reporting portal for law enforcement agencies, handle product licensing for different software versions, and troubleshoot forensic diagramming (reconstruction) and data collection related issues. My accomplishments are that I was able to work effectively with several U.S. Attorney offices for criminal reporting, forensic reconstruction tools, 3D scanning hardware and software and networked with engineers.

Every day at work is a great experience. Nothing is better than working with a great team. I believe that the constant and friendly communication with law enforcement officials, ranking from officers to chief of police adds up a lot of excitement to the job. The best moments are always when officers/investigators tell you “thanks man for saving me today” or “you’re the best”. Good reviews make me feel more confident in what I do.

I am very grateful to the Career Education Department, especially Donna Taylor, for this amazing experience. Donna sent me an email on a Wednesday about this urgent job posting for the winter. Later that day when I went to see her to express my interest in the job, she informed me that my resume was already sent to Visual Statement. I went for an interview on Thursday afternoon and I signed my offer letter with V.S. on Friday. It happened that fast!

I’m able to apply what I learned in the classroom and from previous students’ experiences on my own journey. A co-op work-term also gives you the ability to explore potential career choices and build invaluable work experience. This is definitely a chance that you do not want to miss.

For more information about the Co-op program visit the website or call 250-371-5627.
