While always working to advance the field of graph theory, Dr. Richard Brewster (Mathematics and Statistics) also strives to provide students with an unbeatable undergraduate experience, positioning them for future academic and career success.

It is called the development of Highly Qualified Personnel (HQP), and thanks to a series of Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) grants, Brewster has several HQPs to his credit.

One example is Jonathan Noel, a Westsyde Secondary grad who completed his undergraduate degree at TRU in 2011. Working alongside Brewster, the pair wrote and published their research findings, which helped to launch Noel’s graduate studies at McGill University. Today, Noel is completing his PhD at the University of Oxford.
