Carl Archie (Economics major, Bachelor of Business Administration program) will be working as summer Intern with the Purdy Crawford Chair in Aboriginal Business Studies at Cape Breton University. As a lead student researcher Carl will make an important contribution to what will be Canada’s first textbook on Aboriginal Economic Development. Together with Mary Beth Doucette, Director of Quality Assurance and ISO Compliance at Membertou First Nation, they will explore standard Canadian Business practices and how they differ from Aboriginal Business in Canada. In particular, they will review the Indian Act and its impact on Lands and Economic Development for First Nations across Canada. It is expected that this textbook will be a useful introduction for both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal practitioners and students nation-wide.
Kudos to Carl Archie!
