Kelly Shantz

Kelly Shantz, TRU Alumnus

Who: Kelly Shantz

Occupation: Wealth Advisor with the Comazzetto & Associates Wealth Advisory Group at BMO Nesbitt Burns, Kamloops, B.C.

Bio: Moved to Kamloops as a child and has been a Kamloops resident for 43 yrs. Married 26 years to Heather, he has two children: Taylor 22 and Carson 19 – both TRU students. Avid athlete in soccer, hockey and many individual pursuits.

Connection to TRU: Kelly started his university career as both a soccer and basketball player for Cariboo College. Following his athletic career Kelly joined the TRU Sports Task Force and is currently a Director, as well as the chair of the Annual Mike Bartram Memorial Golf Tournament. He was an assistant soccer coach with the women’s program for nine years and has been involved in fundraising for athletics for over a decade.

Why he gives? I have seen through many instances the impact good coaching, athletics and goal setting can have on the development of a young person’s life and helping to give them a leg up on the future. TRU and its athletics programs and varsity teams are a great conduit for these young people as well as a very important thread in the fabric of our community. If the fund-raising and the donor support we provide can improve the opportunities for a few student-athletes to stay in school then we have achieved something worthwhile. Kamloops is my long time home and seeing TRU remain successful and grow is very important to me and my partners at BMO Nesbitt Burns.

~Thanks for making a change Kelly~
