Dr. Judy Duchscher

Associate Professor

School of Nursing
Health

Summary

I have spent 38 years in nursing and health care within both Canada and the United States, focusing on direct-care practice of the acutely ill individual (primary clinical experience is acute care: critical care, cardiothoracic nursing and multi-organ transplantation). While my early career was spent working in direct care as a practising nurse and nursing/critical care educator, the last two decades of my scholarship seek to emphasize the importance of leadership, education and research in the quality preparation, transition, integration, stabilization and ongoing development of nurses within the professional workforce. With a strong ideological basis in the translation of what we know as nurses into what we do and how we do it, I am committed to addressing issues related to the practice of quality nursing.
