Get to know Tanille
Proudly Liǧʷiłdax̌ʷ from the WeWaiKai First Nation. Tanille Johnston was born and raised in Campbell River, British Columbia and now lives there with her husband, two daughters and two dogs.
She was the First First Nations Councillor for the City of Campbell River.
She has 14+ years of experience as a social worker.
Director of Community Programs and Services with First Nations Health Authority.
She was the NDP candidate for North Island—Powell River in the 2025 federal election.
Previously served on the University of Victoria’s Native Student Union, the School of Social Works’ Equity Advisory Council, the UVIC Student Society Board of Directors and the University of Victoria’s Senate.
Passionate about equity and the social determinants of health and culture. She grew up playing soccer, loves cycling, playing volleyball, hiking and being in nature.
