Fifteen students from the Thompson Rivers University Finance Club gathered with 1,000 students from 70 North American Business Schools at the 6th Annual National Investment Banking Competition and Conference held in Vancouver, Jan. 14 to 15.

Students who attended the event gained valuable hands-on experience in investment banking, asset management, and sales and trading through simulations presented by MDA Training, a leading Wall Street training provider. TRU Finance Club students placed in the top five of these simulations.

In addition to networking with industry professionals from around the world, student delegates were given the opportunity to listen to the business experiences of an extraordinary lineup of keynote speakers and deal presenters, including founder and CEO of Lions Gate Entertainment, Frank Giustra, and Dragons’ Den and Shark Tank panelist Robert Herjavec, founder and CEO of The Herjavec Group.

The National Investment Banking Competition & Conference is one of the most sophisticated finance focused competitions and conferences in North America.
