The TRU Counselling Department in collaboration with Canadian Mental Health Association, Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops, Kamloops Thompson Teachers Association, and Kamloops United Way is sponsoring two workshops facilitated by internationally acclaimed psychiatrist, Dr. Jean Clinton. The workshops are being held on February 19th in the CAC–Grand Hall and are free. Students, parents, and professionals are invited. Adolescents as defined by Dr. Clinton is ages 12-24.
Workshop 1 ( 10:45-noon) The Adolescent Brain: Important information for parents, teachers, and youth.
Dr. Jean Clinton, a dynamic and engaging presenter will de-mystify the adolescent brain. Whether you are a teacher, parent, or youth, this session will help you understand how the adolescent brain is a work in progress
Workshop 2 ( 1:15- 2:30) The Adolescent Brain Under the Influence
Following up on the morning session, Dr. Clinton will present how alcohol affects adolescent brain development. She will give concrete and practical ideas on how adolescents and adults can interact in a healthy and constructive way, recognizing that
“all kids are our kids.”
