Kamloops Marathon is offering prizes of airfare for two to the Boston Marathon thanks to a new partnership with Air Canada and TRAVELWISE.
One trip for two will be drawn from finishers of the marathon distance and one trip for two will be drawn from finishers of the 1/2 marathon and 8 kilometre distances.
Winners must be 19 years of age, with the draw taking place at the event on July 27.
New runs to choose from
New this year is an 8km distance and a 3km fun run for the kids. Both take place on McArthur Island, providing for a flat course. Everyone will receive medals and shirts, with participants in the 3km receiving a ribbon.
Another addition is a Marathon Relay of four members and the 8km Corporate Challenge of as few or as many people as an organization can assemble.
Corporate competitions
There are two ways to compete: the Marathon Corporate Relay, which includes teams of four runners participating in the marathon relay (42km). Each runner runs 10.5km. The First corporate team over the finish line wins.
The 8km Corporate Challenge consists of teams of various sizes competing against each other. The team with the lowest average time wins, meaning smaller companies compete on equal terms with bigger ones. Corporate teams should include the organization’s name in the team name to be eligible and all members should work for or be a spouse or child of a corporate employee.
Age group prizes
Age group prizes for all distances with be awarded except in the 3km.
Boston qualifier
This year’s race is a qualifier for the Boston Marathon, which should help push the number of entries higher than the previous two years.
