Solar panels atop the roof of the Campus Activity Centre. Panels are also located on a portion of roof of Old Main and the Food Training Building.

Initiatives in the areas of environment and sustainability have landed TRU as a finalist for a Kamloops Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Award in the category of RBC Green Award 11+ Staff.

The two other finalists for the award: Best Western Plus Kamloops Hotel, and Stantec.

Whichever organization wins, will demonstrate the following as written in the category description: “This Kamloops-based business has demonstrated energy conservation, cleaner business practices and strongly considers the environmental impact of their products, services or activities.”

Winners in all categories will be announced at a gala dinner on Oct. 13. Tickets are $125 ($105 for Chamber members) and available by phoning the Kamloops Chamber of Commerce at 250-372-7722.
