Tourism co-op student Reesha Aspinall Brown spent a four-month term as the TRU WolfPack ticketing, promotions, and in-game experience co-ordinator. From January to April 2024, her primary focus was increasing ticket sales through strategic communication with target audiences on campus and within the community.
“This role is all about promoting and enhancing the game-day experience for fans, student-athletes and newcomers,” Aspinall Brown said.
During game breaks, she led fun activities like marshmallow eating contests and air guitar competitions for fans. “I promoted the games to students on campus by handing out free WolfPack stickers, tickets and tattoos, a great way to boost attendance numbers through word-of-mouth initiatives.”
This co-op term was more than just a job; it was about career discovery. The experience allowed her to interact with different staff members, gaining insights into various roles and their contributions to the success of WolfPack events.
She supported Meaghan Blakely, sports and events coordinator, in organizing major events like the WolfPack Evening of Champions and the Athlete Awards Night while executing weekly in-game promotions. “I developed a deeper understanding of my interests within the tourism industry — specifically events, entertainment and the sports industry,” she said.
“Reesha was an incredible contributor to our team,” Blakely said. “She is passionate, creative, attentive, curious, driven and provides a fresh perspective.”
Blakely noted that working with co-op coordinator Jamie Noakes allowed the WolfPack to run and experiment with projects and ideas. “Having someone designated to make a dream come to fruition for our fans and student-athletes was fantastic. Reesha is a rockstar, and we are so proud of what she brought to the table every day. She really made things happen.”
One of Aspinall Brown’s favourite memories was creating massive cardboard cutouts of graduating senior athletes’ faces.
“I handed them out during all the last senior night games. It was hilarious handing out all the signs to the senior athletes’ family members and the crowd,” she said. This creative and fun initiative added a personal touch to the celebrations and made the game days even more special.
