Michaela Huth is new to the challenging role of Transfer Credit Coordinator in the Office of the Registrar at TRU, but her dedication and exemplary work has already earned her an award from the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT).

The 2014 BCCAT Rising Star Award recognizes Huth’s exceptional leadership and accomplishment, early in her career, in the area of transfer and articulation with British Columbia’s transfer system.

Huth was on vacation and unable to attend the ceremony on Nov. 14, but had this to say shortly after her return: “I am very proud and thankful of the recognition and award. This is a great motivator to continue working hard and continuously improve. I am very thankful to all of my colleagues who have been so supportive.”

In a letter advising Huth of her selection for the award, the Council noted her commitment to improving and streamlining TRU’s transfer credit processes, developing new processes and establishing strong service standards for students. In her nomination, Associate Vice-President Strategic Enrolment and University Registrar Angelique Saweczko describes the results of Huth’s efforts as “transformational”.

“Michaela has changed many dynamics in the Registrar’s Office since her arrival,” said Saweczko. “She has demonstrated a level of professionalism and collegiality among her co-workers and has established high service standards when working with students and campus partners. It truly has been a pleasure working with Michaela over the past year.”

The newly-established BCCAT Transfer Awards, awarded to six individuals in 2014, were created to acknowledge valuable contributions in support of transfer and mobility in British Columbia. The BC Council on Admissions and Transfer is co-chaired by Executive Director Dr. Rob Fleming and Dr. Roger H. Barnsley, TRU President Emeritus, who gave the introduction and closing remarks.
