On March 23 2013, Dr. Mohammad Mahbobi, Department of Economics, received the Undergraduate Research Mentor Award! Students call Dr. Mahbobi with the shortcut Mo. Congratulations Mo ! This award recognizes demonstrated excellence in mentoring undergraduate researchers over a sustained period of time. Mo has supervised more than 15 undergraduate students! He has been a member of the undergraduate innovation and research conference organizing committee. He served as co-chair of the committee for the past three years. This award:
- celebrates a faculty member who actively mentors undergraduates in research – someone who helps undergraduate students to explore, in quire and engage in new knowledge creation by providing meaningful guidance and support,
- Recognizes a continuous long-term commitment to undergraduate student research.
One student stated the following: “In Dr. Mahbobi, TRU has a tremendous educator, a knowledgeable expert and a caring mentor. With him, education is not what his students cover, rather it is what his students discover. I will always carry this spirit of inquiry and inquisitiveness with me for the rest of my days”
Mo’s recognition does not stop here. Mo was recently named as one of the three Provost’s Fellows. He will be working in the area of student engagement and retention.Congratulations again Mo for the double outstanding recognition for your dedication to students!
