Getting involved and helping out on campus is easy! Students can help organize, promote and participate in a ton of events. Read the list below and see if any of them interest you.

Random Acts of Kindness Week!

Random Acts of Kindness Week – Today and the rest of the week.

The United Way Club on campus is organizing a random acts of kindness week from February 13- 17th.

Help is needed throughout the week to put up posters, leave flyers on tables, and write kind messages on post-it notes and leave them in random spots around campus. As well the club will be handing out 100 carnations today behind IB at the roundabout at 12:15pm. (Just show up if you would like to help.)

Team Hosts for Badminton Nationals March 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

Team hosts are needed for visiting badminton teams. Team hosts will begin by welcoming the team at the airport. You will also tour the teams around campus and act as a resource should they require any information about TRU or Kamloops.

If you are outgoing, interested in meeting new people and would like to demonstrate how welcoming TRU students can be, please contact Duncan Olthuis at dolthuis@tru.ca or 250 377-6116. You do not require your own transportation.

“W” – Withdrawal campaign – March 5 – 9th

TRU Student Services is looking for a few student leaders to help with the “W” campaign. The goal of the “W” campaign is to share information with students about the financial and academic implications of withdrawing from a course (or not). The campaign will run from March 5 – 9th. Work will begin the week of February 27th to determine how to best share this information.

Nutrition Week Cooking Demonstrations – March 7th

The Wellness Centre is looking for students who would like to demonstrate healthy and inexpensive cooking to other students. Using a Magic Bullet, an electric grill, a crock pot and some healthy ingredients, you can demonstrate how easy and quick it can be to eat well. Demonstrations will be held on Monday March 7th in Student Street.

Breaking the parking rules can lead to a ticket

Parking Appeals Committee

The Parking Appeals Committee is looking for 2 student representatives.

The committee meets, at the most once a month (usually not that often) to deal with parking violation appeals and offer advice to the parking office on ways to make parking easier for all.

TRU WolfPack Hockey BCIHL Championships March 14 – 18th

To ensure the success of this championship tournament, volunteers are needed as game coordinators, ticket, souvenir and 50/50 sales, game statisticians, announcers, goal judges, security and ushers.

The 7th Annual TRU Undergraduate Student Innovation and Research Conference will be held on March 30th and 31st. Volunteers are needed throughout the conference to sell books, help with registration, oversee rooms and to assist with displays.
