Race To A Million is the 1st ever ‘Social Reality’ TV show – where Social Media meets Reality TV.”

RTAM-logo-for-letterheadTwo Kamloops entrepreneurs (Peter Cameron-Inglis and Dean Pierson) have created a web-centric social experiment based on a competition between a set of teams where the winner will be the first team to raise $1 million.

Thanks a MillionThe Race to a Million features five teams of Kamloops business people, including a team of  TRU business students. Each team represents a charity of their choice and is tasked to take $500 and turn it into a million within a year. Our own home team, for example, is working toward earning money for the TRU Foundation.

Teams must make investments in 3 week cycles, with a new investment required once each cycle is complete. All investments must be ethical, as well as socially and environmentally responsible.

Profits go to the members of the winning team and their charity in equal portions, as the charity is included as an honorary team member for each team. Peter and Dean will also match the share of the profits that will go toward the winning team’s charity. All investments are tracked and must leave a clear financial footprint, which is handled by the accounting department at the Race to a Million headquarters and then shown on their website.

Team information and biographies for each team member are located on the Race to a Million homepage, which also includes the charity associated with the teams.

Race to a Million concludes on July 1st, 2011.
