The TRU Foundation has received $6,295 from the Credit Unions of BC for participation in their Be Remarkable Facebook Charity Campaign.

In the fall of 2010, BC’s credit unions enlisted young adults to help them give $100,000 to local charities using an innovative Facebook campaign. Central 1 led the province-wide communications program initiative on behalf of British Columbia’s 45 credit unions.

The Be Remarkable campaign was arranged so that 16 regions in BC were each represented by a Facebook photo album. Every time a Facebook user tagged themselves or their friends in photos of their region or town, BC credit unions donated $1 to a local charity. Thirty-two charities were eligable to receive funds, which allowed for two charities from each region. Each charity focuses on important issues, such as sports, culture, education, health, and the environment.
