Kamloops This Week newspaper describes the transformation of TRU through the eyes of Karl deBruijn, a long time TRU-er.
The article illustrates the story of Karl’s long-time involvement with this area and school. It tells us that Karl “attended the institution back when it was known as Cariboo College between 1972 and 1974, but his connection stretches back further than that. In fact, deBruijn’s connection with the campus predates the school itself.” deBruijn actually grew up on the campus grounds before a school existed here at all.
“My dad was in the Air Force and I actually lived in those little military houses you see on campus — we were house No. 5 — from Grade 6 to Grade 12,” he told the newspaper.
