Thompson Rivers University will hold a Town Hall gathering to share the community’s ideas on the best type of programs, courses and activities for TRU Williams Lake.
The Town Hall gathering will be from 9:30 to 11 am on February 8th in the gym at the TRU Williams Lake campus. The session will follow the World Café format which encourages sharing, listening, and connecting themes as well as opportunities.
Each Dean, a number of Associate Vice-Presidents, the Executive Director of Aboriginal Education, other administrators as well as TRUFA representatives will attend the Town Hall in order to listen to suggestions from faculty, staff, students, community members and other individuals who would like to contribute to the discussion. The purpose of the visit to Williams Lake is to hear from the community, gain a better understanding of what would enable TRU to create a more vibrant campus and a more sustainable portfolio of educational programs and opportunities that will meet student demand and community needs.
“I would like us to develop an implementation plan for the next three years based on ideas and initiatives that can help us accomplish the goal of creating a vibrant and sustainable learning environment on our Williams Lake campus,” said Dr. Ulrich Scheck, TRU Provost and Vice-President Academic. “All members of the TRU community, whether we are in Kamloops, Williams Lake or in one of our regional centres, have a vested interest in ensuring the success of our university’s educational mandate and strategic vision.”
Scheck suggests that the Town Hall discussion be guided by the following two questions:
1. How do the faculty, staff, students and community members envision the future of our Williams Lake campus?
2. What courses, programs, credentials and learning initiatives will help us create an educational environment that is sustainable and responsive to the particular circumstances of Williams Lake?
