Thompson Rivers University respiratory therapy students won first place in the Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT), Interschool Video Competition.
Ventil8or Boi, the four-minute video styled after Avril Lavigne’s Sk8er Boi, demonstrates the technical skills and medical knowledge an RT requires for an exciting career as a respiratory therapist. Students Jade Shultis, Davinder Jawanda, Melodie Mathieson and Dani Davies produced the video at Royal Inland Hospital, with the help of staff, while they were doing their practicum this past spring.
The Canadian Society of Respiratory Therapy (CSRT), and sponsor Covidien, conducted a Nation-wide competition to produce a video to promote Respiratory Therapy, enhance recruitment and increase public awareness of the important role of the RT in health care. The competition was open to students from all schools of Respiratory Therapy in Canada.
The competition that was open to students from all respiratory therapy schools in Canada. They received airfare and accommodation for the CSRT Annual Educational Conference and Trade Show, May 28 to 31, 2009 in Gatineau, Quebec along with $500 from Covidien.
