More to See and Do at UCC March 26th

KAMLOOPS-The public is invited to two further activities in addition to the three Canadian arts and letters speakers visiting UCC next Friday, March 26th.

Research in Science and the Outdoors:
From 2:00 to 5:00 pm, about 39 biology, chemistry, physics and freshwater science students from UCC, OUC, and UCFV will present their research findings at the 7th Annual Inter-University College Science Research Poster Session to be held in the Independent Centre located in the Campus Activity Centre at UCC.

Some of the research topics include “Studies on Mutagenic Activities in Teeth Whitening Agents,” “Predicting the Fate of the Endangered American Badger in the Thompson Valley,” “Effects of Hydrogen Peroxide and Backpulse Chlorination on Biofilming Bacterial Communities in a ZeeWeed 500d Membrane Filtration Pilot Plant,” “Observational Learning in Horses,” “Are Moose at Risk at Highland Valley Copper?” and “Factors affecting habitat preference of juvenile coho salmon in artificial rearing habitat.”

University Graduate Programs:
At 2:30 pm, Dr. Dennis Mock, President of Nipissing University in North Bay, Ontario, will speak about his experiences creating infrastructure for the implementation of graduate programs at Ryerson University in Toronto when he was VP Academic at that institution in his presentation entitled “The Next Level: The Implementation of Graduate Degrees at Ryerson University.” His public presentation is part of a visit to UCC to meet with the UCC committee created to establish a process for the creation of a School of Graduate Studies at UCC.
