Imprisonment of the vulnerable

  Posted on: August 26, 2019

Dr. Rochelle Stevenson is an associate professor in the department of sociology and anthropology. She is a member on a panel that will be discussing issues around the pain of incarceration, following the Oct. 11 showing of the movie Conviction. The event is a fundraiser for the Kamloops and District Elizabeth Fry Society and is presented by Addictioin Matters Kamloops. It airs at 6:30 p.m. at the KFS Paramount Theatre.

Stevenson’s academic research focuses on the intersection of violence against women and violence against animals from multiple perspectives. She has conducted research with abusive men, and with women survivors of intimate partner violence. I am continuing research into policy and available programs for women leaving domestic violence with their companion animals.
