Canada’s looming apprentice shortage

  Posted on: July 12, 2019

Canada faces a shortage of thousands of apprentices in trades in the coming years. Thompson Rivers University’s Dean of Trades and Technology Baldev Pooni can talk about this shortage and how more people can be recruited into much-needed trades training.

Pooni is part of the President’s Consortium which represents trades training in BC, also provides input and expertise to the provincial apprenticeship board, and sits on a national dean of trades committee.  These groups focus on attraction, recruitment and retention in trades and apprenticeship training.
