Thompson Rivers University Will Be Host To The 2011 Western Canadian Campus Recreation Conference from February 10 – 12, 2011. Conference attendees will include Recreation Professionals and Students from Western Canada and from the Northern USA, who specialize in the areas of Campus Recreation, Facility Operations and Facility Management, Health and Wellness, Fitness, Sport and Event Management etc. The conference will see an array of topics presented (ex: Program Planning for Special Events and Intramural Sports, Marketing and Promotions, Leadership, Supervision and Risk Management).
There is a strong need for volunteers/student leaders; therefore would appreciate your consideration and involvement with the Conference. Volunteers will ensure that conference attendees are welcomed, are comfortable and have a great experience during their stay in Kamloops.
Volunteer tasks include but are not limited to:
Registration – Gather and Organize Conference Material, Greet and Register Conference Attendees, Distribute Conference Packages and Host Gifts
Set Up and Tear Down – Setting Up Tables and Chairs As Necessary, Table Linens and Skirting
Informational/Host Booth – Greet Guests, Provide Conference Attendees With Information Related To The Conference or Information Pertaining To The City Of Kamloops (Ex: Conference Venues, Restaurants, Directions, Medical)
Decoration and Conference Signage – Banquet Set Up and Decor, Posting of Conference Banners and Conference Signage
Entertainment and Socials – Coat Checks, Seating Assistance, General Assistance In Ensuring Social Activities and Events Run Smoothly, Engaging Conference Attendees To Participate In Planned and Organized Activities
Session Moderators – Preparation of Conference Rooms, Introduce Session Presenters, Distribution Of Presenter Gifts, Conference Evaluations
Media – Ensure Media Equipment Is Available and Working Properly, Helping With Set Up and Removal Of Media Equipment As Necessary, Ensuring Conference Business Centre Is Set Up
Transportation– Directing Conference Attendees To Pick Up/Drop Off Points
